1e dtg. I would have called it "eeh-tuhn", but I found "eeh-uhn" easier to say. Left thumb down, right ring, middle, and index fingers down.


1e dtg = 32 + 14 decimal = 46 decimal

1d dtg (or duotrigesimal, or Base Thirty Two)

"Dee-tuhn" = 32 + 8 + 4 + 1 = 45 decimal. Left thumb down, right ring finger, middle finger, and thumb down. All other digits up.

=44 decimal.

Left thumb in, right ring and middle fingers in. All other digits out. "See-tuhn".

Decimal: 32 + 8 + 4

1b dtg = 43 decimal. Left thumb down, left ring and index finger - and thumb - down. Again? Middle finger ALSO "down" - but resting overtop of thumb muscle, to avoid giving anyone the "finger". Again, see the "Eleven" post for a picture of what I am talking about.

PARADIGM SHIFT!

If there was one stubborn "kink" in my thinking, which I had to iron out; it was this one! "What comes after '19'?" "20?" Well, yes... IN DECIMAL! If you're in duoTRIGESIMAL, though, it is NOT "20"! It is "1a"! "Ah-tuhn". For the pronunciation of this number, think "autumn", but put the "n" sound for the "m" sound. Base thirty two "1a" equals decimal "42" (which is 32+10).


Left thumb down, and (I use my thumb muscle to help hold these fingers down) my right ring and index fingers down. (In fact, I use a "curling" motion to "curl" my fingers up against my thumb muscle and hold them down. Also? Again: I pull my middle finger down OVER TOP of my thumb muscle. Why? Because if I stick it up, it looks like I'm giving someone the "middle finger"! And I want to do everything I can to avoid that misunderstanding! Therefore, when it is OVER TOP of my thumb muscle. That way, I still know not to "count" it - even though it is not sticking up. Please see the post on Decimal: "10" - or "ten", for a picture of what I am talking about.

Nine-tuhn

Left thumb down; right "ring finger" (:)) and thumb down. Duotrigesimal, or Base Thirty Two "19"; or Decimal "41". By the way, one "practical application" of Binary Finger Counting? Keeping track of the verses in Psalm 119!

Psalm 119:19 dtg goes like this: "Let thy mercies come also unto me, O LORD (or Jehovah); even thy salvation according to thy word." If ye would like, feel free to look that verse up in the Bible, and see what, again, that verse is in "decimal".

My age! - revised(!)

See? Now I can say I am "18"! I would have to pronounce it: "Eight-tuhn", though! Left thumb stays down, and on the right hand? RELEASE! All digits! In other words, the thumb, index, and middle fingers from 17 dtg. Then, pull in the right "ring finger" (;))!


The left thumb? Respresents decimal "thirty two".


The right "ring finger"? (;)) "Eight".


Add them both together? And ye get... well... "My age"! As I said earlier, though? "18" or "Eight-tuhn"! ;)

Seven-tuhn

Left thumb down, right thumb, index, AND middle finger down. 17 dtg - 39 decimal. People! I have to apologize again! I was all mixed up last time I posted this! I will endeavor to be more careful to get it right from now on! :)

Sixt-tuhn

My left thumb stays down, and I release my right thumb, pull in my right index finger, and keep my right middle finger down (by the way, I like to use my thumb muscle to hold down that middle finger. As I said: 16 dtg = 38 decimal. Actually, I have come to drop the second "t"; making it "Six-uhn" - because it is easier to say that way. Sorry again! I just realized I had been all mixed up when I posted this! Mortified again! ;)

"Fift-tuhn"

Same thing are "fourt-tuhn", but pull your thumb in. In decimal it equals 37, or 32 for my left thumb, and 4 and 1 for my right middle finger and thumb. Again, in Base Thirty-Two (or duotrigesimal, or dtg), it is "15".


So: 15 dtg = 37 decimal! SORRY I just realized I had gotten this WRONG when I first posted it! I'm mortified! ;)
